Drop a Dress Size in 2 Weeks Special K

Day 14: Last day!

Hey,

I've done it! I've reached the end! What a fantastic feeling. As quick as the last two weeks have gone, it has also felt very slow and tedious. I have lost another 2 pounds this week which gives me a total of 5 pounds lost in two weeks. I am very happy with this, however I haven't dropped a jean size as stated in the challenge. I can be half to blame for this as the second week has been harder than the first. Two days in the last week I have only eaten the Special K cereal once in a day and replaced the second sitting for a proper meal as my hunger levels were reaching a low point.

I feel a lot better after taking on the challenge with myself and from it I do plan on making some lifestyle changes. One of the biggest changes I have made is joining the gym at my university. I joined on the 1st of May and have been twice in the last week. I've always been one to enjoy exercise but always needed the motivation to actually get off my bum and go. I had two very sweaty sessions but the after feeling is definitely work the pain. You know the saying, no pain no gain.

The challenge itself isn't appropriate for a living, in a sense I see it as a crash diet for someone trying to loose weight quickly. The advantages to the challenge has been losing weight and being able to eat a tea of my choice instead of being told exactly what to eat. However, the disadvantages are being very hungry. It says on the Special K website that you are allowed to snack on healthy food in between meals, therefore  I have been eating fruit as a snack and drinking lots of water.

Above is the link to the Special K website where you can see for yourself all the instructions to the challenge.

The amount of money the challenge has cost me altogether has been just over £40. This has worked out at about the same price I would usually spend on food within two weeks, so for anyone looking not to spend a great amount on diet supplies such as tablets or shakes or paying a weekly price at WeightWatchers, than this challenge would be perfect.

I'm glad it's the end of the challenge now as I am definitely ready to eat meals throughout the day but will certainly be choosing healthier options than microwave meals all the time. As a first time blogger, I have enjoyed blogging my way through the journey and I hope you've enjoyed reading my posts and have been inspired yourself to make healthier lifestyle choices.

Day 8: Half way through

Hey everyone,

After taking on the Special K Drop a Jean Size Challenge, my first week is over. Firstly, let me report on eating 15 bowls of Special K, it was nice at first, I like cereal but it's not something I would usually eat on a day to day basis. The first few days it was enjoyable and I quite looked forward to breakfast and lunch. 15 bowls later, it doesn't quite have the same taste, and I'm also struggling to enjoy it as much. However, it is filling but come 12/1pm I am definitely ready for my next bowl.

As for the meals I am having for my tea, they are definitely becoming the highlight of my day. Here are a few of the meals I have consumed this week:

risotto

This is a haddock risotto I purchased from Sainsburys for £3. I had never eaten this before so was quite looking forward to trying it. I don't usually eat a lot of fish and for that reason I couldn't quite finish the meal. I wouldn't buy it again and after I ate it I was very hungry by the time it came to 9pm. I had to drink lots of water to stop the hunger and eventually put myself to bed to stop me from nibbling on snacks.

salad

The salad I ate I used to have before I began the Special K challenge. I added chicken to it to give it extra flavour and to fill me for longer. I also replaced the mayonnaise that comes with it for light salad cream. I find it very filling and let's face it, you can't get much healthier than a salad.

stirfry

The last meal I am going to share with you is the amazingly delicious stir fry I made. I love stir frys and could eat them everyday. This one I made has chicken, peppers, carrots and noodles in it, to name a few ingredients. It's quick and very easy to make, the hardest part is to make sure the chicken is cooked properly. It's the most fulling meal I have eaten all week and I would recommend anyone who is wanting to take the challenge on their self to have this as part of one of your meals.

Overall, this last week has been a slight struggle, I am feeling hungry and could definitely indulge in a juicy steak haha, but I won't. I have lost 3 pounds but still not close to fitting into a size 14 pair of jeans. I have had a couple of weak moments, one being having a night out with my flat mates. I had a few double vodka red bulls and a cheeky KFC but I managed to get my head straight back on the right road.

Only six more full days left now though, I am half way there and with one more big push I will soon be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Yeyy.

Day 1

Hey,

Today is the first day of the Special K challenge. After planning to take on the challenge for other a month now, I am very much ready to give it my all and hopefully see myself in two weeks fitting into last years jeans. To be clear to all what the Drop a Jean Size challenge entails, here is the advert that was shown on television.

Yesterday, I went out and purchased all the healthy food I will be eating in the next two weeks, of course including the Special K cereal itself which I seemed to have purchased at a very good time as it was on sale for £2 in Sainsburys. Other food I bought included salad, chicken, baby potatoes, stir fry and risotto. To explain the challenge, I have to eat a bowl of Special K for breakfast and again for lunch. The only meal I am allowed to eat is at tea which has to be of a balanced diet.

As a student taking on the challenge, my main weakness will be not giving in to a night out with the flat mates, which usually consists of a fair amount of alcohol and a McDonalds at the end of the night. As I stand now, I currently wear size 16 jeans, so hopefully in two weeks I will be fitting nicely into a pair of size 14 jeans.

My next blog I will be posting will be half way through the challenge where hopefully I will be telling you how much I am enjoying it. But for now, wish me luck.
